I hope the title of this page caught your attention. If you own an apple computer (even as far back as power pcs) you are in luck because they all have a very powerful equation grapher called, Grapher as part of the OSX.

You can find Grapher in the following location: Applications -> Utilities -> Grapher. In the Utilities folder you will also find a lot of useful programs such as Disk Manager, where you can reformat hard drives or memory sticks, etc. Another way to launch Grapher is to click on the spotlight icon (magnifying glass in the upper right corner of your screen) and type in Grapher. When you see the Grapher in the list, just click on it or press enter.

When the following window comes up, just click 'Choose' and you will get the graph type in the window, or choose another style of graph. Or Choose 3D Graph and you will be able to plot 3D equations.

This will give you a window that looks as follows:
If you want your Grapher window to have as many icons as the one here, just right click the top bar and choose Customize Toolbar to get more icons.

Now type in x then hold the shift key and the number 6 button to give you a power and then type a 2 and hit enter. You will now see this:
